Thermal image of solar panels

Cell defects, connection faults and soiling on solar panels show up as temperature differences long before they are visible to the eye. A drone with a thermal camera scans an entire plant quickly and locates each faulty panel, so the maintenance crew can walk straight to it.

We fly in irradiance conditions where the measurement is meaningful and process thermal and visual imagery together, matching every finding to its row, string and panel number. The same method is used to find heat loss and overheating on roofs, electrical cabinets and industrial equipment.

How we work

  1. Preparation. Plant layout and panel numbering are collected.
  2. Flight. Thermal and visual imagery is captured in suitable irradiance and weather.
  3. Analysis. Hotspots are classified and located panel by panel.
  4. Report. Findings are reported in order of priority, and the thermal map is shared on the portal.

Typical uses

  • Periodic maintenance of ground-mounted and rooftop solar plants
  • Acceptance and pre-warranty inspections
  • Roof and façade heat loss surveys
  • Industrial plant and electrical infrastructure checks
